I pounced on this copy of Aesop’s Fables remembering how much they taught me when i was little. there is an alarming dearth of morals today and when a child is young these fables assist to set the stage for such sensibilities. You really want this to teach this level of behavior because although most children naturally have some of these qualities most don’t have all. Here’s a neat way to teach without lecturing endlessly on subjects that can become so complicated that the whole idea falls out for a child. Buy this and read it. Aesop’s fables have been around for two thousand five hundred years. Their morals apply to real life. Most readers will be familiar with a handful of them such as The Fox and the Grapes and The Tortoise and the Hare. These are well-known for a reason – they are the best of them. The total collection runs to three hundred or so stories, most of which are not as well worth repeating. – Graham S.
