Why we created this guide:
In a nutshell: Humans are wired to learn through stories.
Stories impact us more than facts, lectures, or sermons. We respond emotionally to stories because they reach the heart. That alone packs a powerful punch.
If you want lasting effects from your character-building efforts, connect the ideas to great stories. You’ll find it the most efficient, impactful, and rewarding method possible.
What will reach your child’s heart? What will stick in their mind?
Not lectures about the importance of a character trait. Not cautionary sermons of what happens when there is a deficit.
Building Character Through Books flips this model and now the parent shifts from facilitator to partner.
The heartbeat of this study is reading great stories together and we’ve included a variety of literature from which to choose.
Each family is unique and might use the guide in a different way. We created it with variation in mind. Our hope is that you can take what we have provided and make it your own.
However, we also know that sometimes we all need a little motivation to stay on track. To help with momentum, we’ve included some helpful organizational pages., but the amount of time you take to complete the study it is up to you.
